CCKW for sale on ebay. Closed cab truck that has been turned into a boom wrecker.Looks pretty rough but the price will probably be pretty cheap as the first bid is $50.00 no. 4609243836. The truck is in California. Still a restorable truck for someone that really wants to save a piece of WWII history.

The dash looks like it's from a civvy Chevrolet truck, note the winding handle for the windshield and trim strip along the bottom. at first I thought the truck might be an early CCKW but everything else points to it being a 42/43 truck.

Many commercial customers preferred the closd cab, and surplus dealers salvaged many civilian cabs to install on the CCKW Chassis. We used to scour the salvage yards for any 41-47 Chevrolet/GMC civilian truck cab we could buy.

That was 41-46 cab. The 47 trucks had the newer cab that ran more or less the same thru 1953 with 1954 getting a one piece windshield as I recall.
For one year, 1947 Chevrolet had the new cab with the 4 speed crashbox tranny.

Not quite, 41-47 Chevrolet/GMC had the same style cab, it was discontinued in mid 47. The late 47 Cab Style ran to the 1st series 1955.There were minor changes in the late 47-55 cab, it had to do with vent windows, push button door handles, and 1 piece windshield in 54 and 55. We sold new GM trucks in the 40s-early 50s.

Tell Jim Carter he is wrong. We sold new GM Trucks in the 40s. The 41-47 Chevrolet trucks used the same cab. In 1947, what is known as the 1st Series with the 41-47 Cab was in production until late May 1947. The Advanced Design Truck Series with the new cab. They were introduced to the public June 28, 1947. 1941-1947 GMC followed a similar history with a mid year change. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong on this.

My dad has a 1948 Chevy Thriftmaster pickup with the Advanced can design. It is just like the this one except his is white. If I remember right, he said it is the 1948 model manufactured in late 1947.

Wow, so much interchange over an old GMC/Chevorlet truck.
So what is the final verdict. Inquiring minds want to know. We had a 48 Chevorlet truck, but that was so many years ago I don't remember the internal particulars of the truck.

Just looked at the truck in person.
Frame #38xxxx-H2, two piece oil pan, late Hydrovac & demountable hubs. Frame is ok, just trimmed a little
. Orig. carb & air filter. It needs a home or the owner is going to make a monster dune buggy out of it.

Aparrently GM continued the production of the 41-46 design into 1947. The question is, did the literature say 1947?
Both Jim Carter and Chevys of the 40's list the vehicles as 41-46 and 47-54.
I have a Chevy factory manual: 41-46 trucks and 41-47 cars in the same manual.
