Great photos . These trucks were really loaded with gear. not all clean and pretty like our trucks are .

Is the last coloured picture of the CCKW reversing onto the boat a Radio truck as it seems to have 2 aerial masts above the cab and some strange pipe alongside the windscreen???
Any ideas??

The truck has a snorkel hose to the carb to help it go under "some" water.

The antenna mounts are because it has an H0-17 shelter in the back with an SCR299 radioset.

It is interesting on how the Ben Hur goes into the LST.

I always knew that was what those safety chains were for.

Thanks for the info Guys, The collection of Original Photos and there is over 2300 of them are well worth a look .There are some great pictures of WWII radio equipment as well as some very graphic images of what war can do to City's and Individuals.

I have downloaded them all and I'm willing to burn them onto a CD if anyone wants them for the Actual postage costs which shouldn't be too expensive to the US

Send me your details via PM and anyone else who's interested a and I'll post some out.I don't know yet what the postage is but I'll only charge for the postage and not the packing or CD,as I have several spare jiffy bags available.
Or you can always download them if you prefer, mind you 600mb might take a while but as they are in 40 mb slots you could do them over several days,just a thought.
It's no bother for me to post them either.I'll let you know postage as soon as I know .Anyone else know the postage international??? .

Great Stuff.

I really like the three GI's repairing 5 Gal gas cans with open flame gas welding equipment. I sure hope they survived the war. They should have received medals for bravery.

I found picture 195636 (9th picture) interesting , beside some nice gmc truck footage( Note most of the trucks have jerry cans mounted on the rear mud flaps, with one having the holder but no can.The first three Trucks have steel cargo bodies with the fourth truck forward a wood body , the second truck is a closed cab note the open door, most of the trucks appear to be 353's and in very good condition. But the one interesting point is the soldiers in the trucks are Asian, could they be from the famous 442nd Inf Nisei division

Also notice the back packs they are wearing.

Do you know the photonumbers of the 2 photo's with the GI's repairing the 5 Gal gas cans. I also downloaded the photo's from the original site but I can't find those two in mine collection.

Back to the colored photo of the CCKW backing into the LST. Note where the jerry can is. Instead of right behind the fender it is on the back of the running board. For those of us that have the open cab truck had have to climb down out of the cab this makes more sense as the front mounted can is in the way when you step down with your left foot.
Just an observation and gives thought to remounting my cans.
