My Dukw Restoration (an extreme amount of pictures)

i have a 1944 dukw and i need parts (transfer case, gauges, manuels, tires, prop, and other things) i just wondered if anyone had anything for me or any help at all. i put some pictures up of what it (the Dukw) looked like when it was in the woods since then it was put in a garage i will post some more if i can find them. the guy in the pictures is my dad.

Looking at all the trees that have grown around the DUKW it has been there for awhile. Better bring a chain saw when you plan on recovering what is now classified as a Wood Duck....

A friend of mine who restores airplanes is fond of the quote, "as long as you have a data plate one at least on rivit hole to attach it you can call it original!"

Meaning lots of retorations have started with less. The DUCK looks pretty good after shoveling out the junk. I think thats one of the most fun parts of getting it home is getting rid of the junk and finding out what you really have.

One bit of advice at this stage. Don't throw anything away! Even if you are sure it has nothing to do with the vehicle, you may be suprized. That funny looking rusted piece that you thought was off somones old gas BBQ grill was really the super rare left hand muffler bearing adjusting linkage or some such thing

dads work bench has been taken over by my parts. more before and after pictures. i have taken the exhaust manifold off and had a piece welded on along with some new gaskets. the starter was also gone through and it works, although i need the band that goes around it. you can see dads rims in the background for the 1946 dodge flatbed we are also workin on.

Here are are pictures from the moving of the duck from its old home in the woods to its new one in a concrete building and one on me sitting in down after a long day of trying to move the duck in!!






not much has happened since i last reported (football is all i have time for right now). but i am still looking for parts and tomorrow will get some more. if you have contacted me about parts please send me another email!!
