Hi guys,

I'm forced to do an emergency carb rebuild because there seems to be quite a bit of varnish in my carb. It will run fine, then all of a sudden it seems like some varnish breaks off and clogs a jet, making the truck sputter very badly and have almost no power until it clears. Well, tonight I must have gotten a very large piece (that is if I'm correct about the varnish) and I literally had the inch the truck home as it would want to die right away.

I'm trying to get ready for a parade on Saturday and I was planning on rebuilding the carb tomorrow (Wed.)

I have a rebuild kit and a Zenith carb manual (TM9-1826C), I just wanted to make sure the kit I have is correct before I disassemble my carb. Can anyone confirm my kit # for my carb. I have the late style carb model # 30BW11GM.

I know what you mean been there, the piston on the slide in the carburetor use to stick with me , Ive been using Marvel Mystery Oil and this seams to help a lot there might be something better but it works for me . Also the use of some modern day filters .

Maybe I've missed something but rebuild is not your Answer ,remove the source of contamination and you'll be o.k. If the carb runs fine after you've cleaned it then stop it from getting blocked by cleaning the bowl thoroughly and then install a good filter in the fuel line.

I've had problems with my carb getting shitty in the past but it's sorted now with the help of a good inline washable filter (hidden in the chassis) A 20th century battlefield mod :) :D

Well, I never had the chance to get to rebuild the carb before the show so I tried cleaning it and checking my filter (it's a new napa one in that goes into the original housing) and my fuel being pumped to the carb is clean.

I still had problems with it however so yesterday I finally rebuilt it. The truck is running great now without the sputtering from before. When I opened the carb up, I was amazed to see how much varnish was inside the fuel bowl.

Rebuilding the carb was pretty straight forward. When it was disassembled, I let it sit for a couple of hours in Berryman's Chem Dip. The parts came out spotless.
