Motor oil level

Post by gerardsrik »

Hello technical advice board ;-)

I was wondering about our gmc cckw 353 motor oil level. If i dip stick the oil in the crank-case it comes close to low (cold engine). If i fill about 1 litre the oil level will rise after i have driven a while to over full. but if i check after a while the level is low again. I check always with a cold engine or ad least after an hour or so after driving. Can the oil accumulate some where?

How far should the oil level come in the crackcase? If i look on the out side to how far the dip stick goes into the crankcase i think it reaches just above the little lower piece of the crankcase. Should the oil level be higher? Or do i have a to short dipstick, i know there are two sorts of sticks.

Oil pressure is good and constant.

Any advise is welcome,

Thanks,

Rik
