It is just a CCKW. Nothing special except it has a DUKW pillow block I think

CCKW...
Just a few questions. The frame rails that are tapered at the rear; is that a bubba modifcation, or original? The frame is obviously shorter than a typical truck, yet tapers look very well done. I would expect that if it was done by bubba, that there would be some indication of weld where the frame was notched and the top plate bent down.
My next question concerns the two items mounted to the firewall on the passnger side of the cab. Any idea what the rectangular box is? I'm guessing the item below it is a heater core or fan of some kind??

Retro,
A picture I have (which I can't seem to find again) of a CCKW Tractor of a TT setup had the came kind of sloping rear end. Much like this one with no pintel. Whether it is a factory build, official field mod or bubba mod....one will never know.
Also the text of the auction has substantially changed, by seller revision, since first posted. From the comments it looks like Joel gave this guy the correct information about what he has.
I think I will pass on this one.
Bill

CCKW Tractor/truck??
Weasel,
that's exactly what I was wondering... If it is indeed an original tractor/truck, it would be a real shame to not see at LEAST the frame get saved. Even if the whole rest of the truck was junk or parted out, the very small number of tractor trucks would make this a highly desireable frame. Don't confuse "highly desireable" with "valuable" or even "practical"!!

Retro,
As I continue to search for the picture I remember the discussion on the board previoously about CCKW Tractors. The link to it is here.
Maybe one of the tow involved can post up a picture of the trucks rear end.

I was looking at the auction and seller asked questions. Some people out there are real smart asses....like WC51Dave's question...if I had been the seller I would've replied with a smart ass answer like "If you can get into the cab and see, then sure you can try to drive it home...
Its a shame to see a truck beat up so badly! It makes me sad even...

Did you also read the Lister's { he is not the owner ,just a middle man} description of the " cab is bent some " and then pretend you talked to him on the phone and this is what you drove 200 miles to buy ......i think you would agree who was the smart ass , just some food for thought .Abram J wrote:if I had been the seller I would've replied with a smart ass answer like "If you can get into the cab and see, then sure you can try to drive it home...

I wish he had listed this with some humor. It is sad to think he is serious, and list it the way he did. I remember a junk yard dealer with a great sense of humor who would pick up a radiator cap and tell every one in hearing distance that this was a perfectly restored truck and all he needed to do was get was the rest of the parts to jack under it. A listing like that would have been more in keeping with the condition of the vehicle.
