Wooden Cargo Box
Im currently restoring/rebuilding a wooden cargo box of a MACK NM similar in design to the one used on our CCKW's
Im in need of the bed strips that hold the floor down and together, any sources on where to get them?
Thanks
Jeroen

Thanks for the reply,
I always thought that those were in the style of Dodge/chev trucks wich are different from the ones the heavy trucks used.
Anyway, do you have an address of a supplier(s)?
Thanks again,
Jeroen

Hi Jeroen
Unfortunatly they are on this side of the pond ,but...
Mar-K is the manufacturer for all the vendors such as Jim Carter , etc.
They can custom fab the lenghts you need and can punch them as well.
Steve Workman used them for his wooden bodied CCKW resto. They should have a template for the CCKW bed strips
Their web site is www.mar-k.com phone # 405-721-7945 they are located in Oklahoma
Hope this will be of some help.
John

Thank for the address that looks a serious company who could make them.. I will contact them and see what they can do for me.... Fortunatly there are ships and planes crossing both ways for us
Do you have any pictures of the body that Steve Workman restored?
Thanks,

Look at the CCKW.ORG/
http://cckw.org/ww2_vehicles_2005.htm
pages for the Weare rally. Steve's truck is in there. It is the open cabed truck with the DUKW wheels.
Steve is a cabinet maker and did a wonderful job on the body. I am not sure anyone else in the US could have/would done such a nice job (with the parts I sold him). It was a LOT of work!

Hi
There was a dealer in Belgium who made those strips, I purchased strips from him for my Carryall a couple years ago at the War & Peace show, if let me know, will try and find out who that was, just cant remember at this time.

Hello Rob,
Those strip for both WWII Dodge and later style chevy/ford beds are different then the ones used on CCKW and other all wood cargo boxes. The profile is slightly different as they not only keep the floor down, but also together.
The Dodge style is largly reproduced now by a lot of dealers for example Jim Carter.
Thanks for the response anyway.
