hummmm.
those top cables going over to what appears to be a front cargo cover hoop sure is getting a workout supporting that entire boom like that.
I should think a better spot would be to tie into the bed sides somewhere?
Anyway, nice looking truck..
WHo owns it and whats it doing (I know, I know it lookls like its cleaning up the beach of debris.. But where?)

I believe the picture was taken in Iceland. I sent the owner an email that he was on the front page. I am sure, with time, he will respond.

Thank you Dr Deuce.
This GMC was restored 2002-2003, came from Norway and was an open cab no winch. 1500 manhours to restore from total frame off to last touch. The canvas front bow is 3/4 steel and capled to the bedframe. This allowes me to have full canvas and use the benches inside. I am going to refit this setup because of bed being pulled to the cab. I will get it to the frame through the bed. Since taken into action (2003) for my environmental organisation(Non profit org.) the Blue army has cleaned from the Icelandic shorelines, open areas and harbour sites over 450 tons of nets, scrapmetal, tires, and just name it debris and recycled. This truck can do anything and I have been all my life more or less playing as a child or driving them myself as well as preserving them. I have 4 of them and if anyone wants some extra pictures feel free to email me, best regards to you all, Tomas in Iceland

I kinda figured that front bow had to be a little heavier than stock!

The boom is a repro from another GMC with a boom. That GMC no longer exits but I have lots of parts from it. I was given GMC used parts from an old man in Iceland who worked on his GMC for 50 years. His truck is now in a museum. If you want pictures I can email to who ever is interested.

Great stuff
well done for all your hard work keeping the beaches clear... and just to think you would probably not be able to get a truck as good as a GMC for the work in this day and age... probably cost ten s of thousand £ s for a modern equivilant
