Hello,
Last Sunday I took my DUKW on a mission to re-supply LCI-713. (This is the same LCI that was display at the 2008 MVPA Convention in Portland last summer) The auxiliary generator for the LCI went bad so they acquired a new 10KW generator. The only problem was how to get the 1,300 lb. generator on board the ship. All it takes is "Yankee ingenuity"! We loaded the generator onboard my DUKW with a forklift at my shop and then off to the boat ramp and into the Columbia River. The LCI has a davit on the stern which we used to hoist the generator up to the deck with a come-a-long! It was a slow process but all went well. As soon as the generator cleared the DUKW I quickly moved the DUKW out of the was....just in case
Thanks,
Steve
