Post by lacoda56 »

Just saw the water pump post and was wondering if anyone has a part number (napa, parts plus, o'rielly) for intake and exhaust manifold gaskets for the 270. Thanks, Ron

Vehicles of Victory also has them.

I bought the gasket, which Bob said was original (with that evil asbestos in them), as the new manufacture gaskets (made with whatever "safe" junk) didn't last.

Give Bob a shout.

Definately go with ass-bestos. It will last much longer....

There is a company that sent me for free a new graphite manifold gasket set for a Chevy.

I am trying to persuade them to make a GMC set too and make the older Chevy gasket set. They claim that theirs will work on both. It has been my experience that the gaskets for the older engines, Chev or GMC cannot use the newer engine gaskets as the intake ports are just a littl too much larger for the intake gasket not to leak.

The Chev gasket for the 50's - 62 engines are about $50.
