Re: Anti Vibration Strips - CCKW353
I have from time to time made a substitute strip from military tent canvas.
Cut a strip of OD canvas twice as wide as needed and to the correct length. Lay a piece of small diameter line or cord (Parachute cord works) down the middle of the canvas strip. Fold the strip in half over the cord. This makes an even round edge or bead for the edge that will show. Place the canvas strip with the "bead" between the fender and the cowling with the "bead" on the outside at the junction of the two parts. Mark the required openings for the bolt holes. remove the canvas strip. Punch the holes in the canvas/strip with a round gasket punch and bolt it all together. I tried glueing the cord and the folds but it makes it too stiff and hard. Suggest just folding and fitting the canvas and just keep the bead tight into the joint and it will look factory.
The heavier weight tent canvas is best.

Re: Anti Vibration Strips - CCKW353
This is something I have considered doing I have some of the old seal and it looks as though there is a piece of material folded round some cord, then there is a single piece of material which fits in between the folded piece over the cord, then all three pieces are stitched together.
Don't say can't as anything is possible with time and effort.

I bought my set last year, they are installed and turned out great.

Hopefully these loaded. IT shows the welting at the top where the cab meets the firewall. The other picture shows the welting running down between the cab and firewall.
Click on the pictures and they enlarge so you can see the pictures in detail.
This is the welting from Beachwood Canvas.

Here's some more images. These show the welting down the driver and passenger sides where the cab meets the firewall. The other image is the view under the fender showing the welting there too. The quality of the welting is great.
