See picture of my engine. I would like te paint the pump in the same green colour.
But is this the original colour?
There is no other paint layer underneath this one.
It is a French rebuilt 352.
Does anyone have a colour number (RAl, SCS or other) for this green - or the original- colour?
Regards, Bart

Re: Engine colour
The factory color is a" wet olive drab'
TM9 paints has an ammo can color that is darn near a perfect match
Bill Hirsh has some engine enamals IIRC "Austin Healey Green" is the colors name it is also real close.
This subject has been covered on this forum several times "search" should reveal some more info.
Hope this helps

Re: Engine colour
As a side note to the never ending question of the correct engine paint color,
I picked up a Tech Manual 9-2851 dated 1947 "Painting Instructions for Field Use"
At the back, it details specific instructions for certain military items including a section on engines. In-Line engines were to be painted a heat resistant grey.
This is the only place I have ever seen it in writing. There are specific instruction on the type of paint, thinning instructions and application.
Interesting.

Re: Engine colour
That is interesting Jeff
On several engines I have noticed a faded gray residue mostly on the valve cover and lifter pan ( the cleanest parts ) and I always thought it was faded/weathered Olive or Olive Drab.
Cheers
