Is there a 12 step program for military toolaholics? I need help.
I was staggering around the Iola Wisconsin Old car swap meet yesterday in 94F heat. Bought a few military items and then found this. A veteran Atlas 7B bench top metal shaper. This one has green paint under the shop grey repaint.
A commercial model, the shapers were also supplied for the CCKW machine shop vans.
I need a bigger shop or a CCKW shop van. Now have the lathe, milling machine and shaper. The B driver wants to know why I needed it. Need????
My name is Jeff and I'm a toolaholic.

Nice find, Cat Man.
Do you have to rewire yours for power or is it already set up for 110 AC?

It is factory wired for 60 Hz 110 Volt Single Phase. Original motor and mounting.
There were two of these shapers sold on Gov Liquidation sale last April. They were new in originalcrates. Last ones
built I think were in the early 1960's. They were mint. And priced according.

Re: I'm a military Toolaholic
Here is a progress report on my WWII Atlas 7B Shaper. Over the winter we stripped it down and rebuilt the machine. Research indicates that the serial number dates to about 1942 or 43. The original machines were painted a green color that was very close to the military OD paints of the time. This machine had the green paint under several postwar repaint coats. Postwar they were sold on the civilian market in a medium grey. Since most of my other shop machines are medium grey, I went with that. If I was mounting it in a CCKW machine shop truck is would sure be green.
Two photo's show the machine as purchased and after the restoration was completed. Fun little machine to run. I sure wish someone would send me a picture of one in a CCKW shop truck.
Nice to work on something that doesn't have wheels for a change.
