Now it’s time to discuss the “Little Detroit’sâ€Â

Good question. It would certainly be informative to all of us as collectors, whether we have a wooden box or a steel box.

There is no information on which trucks were assembled in the field, but I would imagine the bulk of knocked down CCKWs went out of country. The only way for an owner to tell if his CCKW was one of these would be residue of proctective paper and tape, and that ain't going to happen. The assembly manuals for these are pre 44, I have one. There is nothing to really be learned from the manual, as all our trucks are assembled, or sort of. At one time I had a NOS LWB wooden body that was banded together. I sold it in 85. I should have kept it and shortened it. I will try to get a SWB Wood Cargo Body from Europe next year.

If you are any good with wood, I have access to the remainder of the ones I bought at Malecheck's (sp) in NJ in the late 80's. They were all SWB ones.

All the metal is there and just add wood!
