GOOD RUNNING CCKW SCOREBOARD

1. All CCKWs run good going down hill, is there another way to get them back uphill?

2. Do you have to carry a can of brake fluid with you?

3. Do you need a push/tow to get started?

If you can relate to any, and I know some can relate to all three, it is time to get out the TM and get your hands dirty.

See if you can make your truck run better than mine.

My truck does run real well down hill and the extra can of brake fluid is alway available, along with extra quart of oil and a fan belt. Thanks for the input Joel. It is good to have you back on the site.

My CCKW has the gas tank on the drivers (wrong!) side, and the pick up turbe is at the FRONT of the tank, just behind the cab. So I'm driving along, start up a hill and the truck dies. Can't get it started. I roll back into a guy driveway (he said it was OK) tinker and it starts up (cause the gas is now on a level plane and the pickup tube can get to it.

So I start back up the hill to stall out in a few minutes. Back down the hill into the driveway.

Guy's son comes out (he's a deisel mechanic) and we definately narrow it down to a fuel problem, but there is about 1/4 tank of gas.. plenty. After another try, and another roll back down the hill, he finally spots the problem, the fuel pickup is sucking air on an incline.

I fill the tank (with a 5 gal can, 4 trips!) half way and finally make it up the hill.

I have experienced the same problem when the tank is low. Great when on a level plane. :D

You should try backing up the hills, or keep more that 5 gallons of gas in the tank.
