European parts.

Post by Matt »

I must admit I'm lucky with my truck in that although it was with the Belgium army post war there are very few post war parts on it,the side lights and governor and that's it.I will be taking those off and replacing with NOS originals.

The motor is a Belgium army rebuilt unit,it's actually an earlier unit than the truck!

There is nothing wrong with the European parts as long as they fit, but some do not, they do turn up on returned trucks, and as surplus. They were made to be functional and may not always be asthetically pleasing. The same problems show up on the European surplus MB and WC replacement parts made in that era, they are substandard to serious collectors looking for WWII Factory appearance. I have a NOS French Army Surplus CCKW Hood I will sell for $100.00.

Thank goodness some of those parts ands TO parts are there for us substandard restorers that can't afford NOS stuff. dI believe it is great that there are restorers and owners that demand perfection. dsThen we realize whzt the equipment looked like when it left the factory , then there are the combat class trucks that look like they did in theater. When you have a combat class truck you can hang a water bucket on it. :D
