We have three inch snow but I still am hoping to get the 352 sorted out and registred before Christmas. There's something in the fuel system and I have to decide which bad tires are the least bad in the eyes of the Vehicle Inspectorate. And yes, the Tranny still only gives high speeds.
And I need to have some data about the vehicle's measuremets and weight. Could somebody help me out a little bit? What I need is information about the total weight of a 352 (Closed Cab) with Winch and Ring Mount (looks like roland's truck), the Weight distribution on individual axles and the allowed load. Any help will be appericiated, metric (tonnes/kg) especially.

352
Hi, Arthur
I will look into the registration papers for my 352 on friday, the
truck is stored for the winter.
The only weight numbers i recall is the weight of the truck itself.
It was 5200kg with winch and M-37 gunring and splitaxels.
What is the serialnumber on your truck?
Mine is: CCKW352 39218B1 Date of delivery:23.July-41
Best regards
Roland

Thank you very much Roland, I very much appreciate Your help. My truck's chassis number is 38xxx, I'dont have the papers here at computer, I'll check the rest later. I guess it's a May 1941 truck? Unfortunately the original Nomenclature plate is missing. The truck still has the old spec vacuum-assisted master brake cylinder and civilian dashboard. I just adore the way You Norwegians kept these fine old machines going.

Mine's 38278BI, USA 454317, seems that a lot of early SWBs were reprocessed and sent to Europe in early 50s. Note that most have 6 digit USA numbers which are all 1941 models. And most that had the early brake booster, have been upgraded to Hydrovac which is a good idea, as the early system was not as efficient. It was a lot of work as the chassis had to be drilled for the bracket for the new Master Cylinder, Vacuum lines had to be added along the Passenger side of the Chassis, and all of the brake tubing had to be altered to that type which used a hydrovac. I have seen many of these upgrades, and all have tubing, which is consistant with those that left the factory, which leads me to believe that there was a factory modification kit. I have never seen one listed, but have not checked out to see if there was an MWO. The only kit listed in Post War SNLs is the kit for the Fat type 3 hydrovac which is the best.

Thanks, but the Hydrovac makes for better stops. I believe I have NOS Vacuum Boosters stored away somewhere. Manny had an early CCKWX a couple years ago that was intact and clean. All Studebaker US6 6X6/6X4 trucks used this system along with the similar REO 6X6. They were not famous for quick stops.
