PICKING A FUN CCKW

Post by joel gopan »

For driveability, ease of handling and pep, pick one without the Winch. A CCKW without winch is a hot rod when compared to one with winch. There were many versions of CCKW, but the Cargo is the most useful. Others have specialized equipment or bodies and are appeal to those who have facilities to stable and care for them. some of the specialized CCKWs are in unusually good shape as they were only used for special mission and did not get heavy use.
Next , wait til all the excitement wears off before getting sucked in by big ticket canvas merchants to buy all the bogus do-dads that they offer to doll up your CCKW, they have a way to take what is normally scrap canvas and fashion something to siphon another $40.00 bucks out of you. I can see OD colored Dip Stick wipers coming.
Peek at your TM9-801, or TM10 to see what came with your truck.

Why not one of these GMCs? Ride like Cadillacs, steer with eaze and go pretty well with their 270 power plant. Something different. This is Brian Gough and Stefan Leegwater in Apledoorn this year.

Make sure you have a water bucket though. Not much weight and adds to the character of the truck.
