Some SWB trucks started out as Closed Cab, with the Fuel Tank having the single small neck fuel fill pipe on the passenger side only. Many of these had the Closed Cab changed to Open Cab. There can be a slight problem, as all SWB CCKWS with Open Cab left the factory with the later Fuel Tank and Bracket that had Two Large Neck 4" Filler Pipes on either side. These fill pipes were located farther outboard which allowed installation for the Righr Rear Post and Bracket. On those with the Small neck tank, the height that the post fro the RR Bracket is restricted. There is no prescribed height of installation of the M-36 Kit Posts and Brackets, but one may desire a ring height that may require removal of an 8" length of the post to lower the ring to a comfortable height, or to provide clearance to park the CCKW indoors. I shortened mine and save the cut off piece. I have since sold my Mount which was installed NOS,and provided the new owner with a NOS post and bracket that was not shortened.
I enjoyed the MG mount on the CCKW for 14 years, and decided to sell it and invest the money in a WWII Jeep Trailer, I sold the complete mount including NOS Cradle and Trolley for $2000. The cost of shipping and reconditining the trailer soon exceeded that.
The CCKW now acts as if it is wearing Sneakers, the Front springs resumed their Bounce and the truck is again has it's old pep that disappeared with installation of the Ring Mount. I have not weighed a complete set up, but it has to be in the neighborhood of 650-750lb with the weapon in place. If your open cab is not structurally sound, it may not be a good candidate for an M-36 Mount.
