100% complete??

Post by retro-roco »

I have a very funny feeling about this "question" I'm guessing that there is a "gotcha" here somewhere :?

Does the air in the tires have to be original air?? or is there something else that would be either easily overlooked, or simply impossible to replicate??

Inquiring minds want to know...

Well I definately do not. My truck is a classic example of a combat class truck, complete with dents, replaced parts and Texas bubba modifications, but it does have a NOS water bucket. :D

No tricks, just looking to see if anyone has an all original unaltered CCKWX/CCKW, not missing one item it drove out of the factory with. I am in the market for a perfect SWB CCKW Closed Cab. Having been at this for half century,+, I enjoy seeing CCKWs that are in original issue condition.

I don't know of any in "out the box" condition but the bolster trucks which came out of France a few years ago had only a few hundred miles on them, but they are very late trucks.

Joel do you mean original un-restored or a high class restoration?

They are nice, but are conversions and have updates. I was involved in a purchase of a few with Supreme Surplus 25 years ago.

Believe it or not.....

General Motors....the builder of 500,000 plus of these great trucks...does not even have a "new" one.

What a disgrace. :(

My shopvan truck is about as perfect as I have seen (chassis and cab)
It has 12k miles on it and was used for civil defense. Other than the silver paint job and the hole in the cab roof, it appears to be all original to me.

What will confirm the truck has original factory components, is to start under the hood, and check the style engine and all of its accessories, and proceed to the power train and check that the components have not been changed, or upgraded. The Ord 9 SNL is a good start, as it has a lot of reference as to bolt on parts versus the Chassis Numbers. The trucks had many upgrades from 41-45. Example, the CCKWX did not have the Deep Sump Oil Pan at Date of Delivery. BOD Lamp upgrade is a non factory, Mechanical Advance Distributor on a CCKWX is another item to check, the list goes on forever.

original trucks

Although my CCKWX is very rough for some reason it still has alot of original items, horn, radiator cap with lever, engine tag,I don't know how to check wether the engine is still the original. The odometer only shows 25,000 miles of coarse this could be 325,000 but so much stuff is still there that I doupt it,the starter pedal still has nice crisp checkering on it.I got looking at rims the other day and most that I could find were dated 41. When ever I findout something new here I go to check and it's usually there. Hardly a musem piece but she keeps earning her keep.

Hi Bob,

What is the engine number of your CCKWX? I have some reference information on earlier engine#'s. I also have a 42 dated list of engine upgrade kits.
