body mount wood numbers
Today while removing some panels from a really beat CCKW cab I decided to go ahead and break it down as far as I could, once I got the wood mounts out I was suprised to find one with paint and readable numbers. These would still be usable or would make a really good pattern. The wood is still solid but it looks like it was cut from lamintated stock and there is some seperation, but for 60 year old wood I was surprised.

GM would ID many wood parts by stamping the Part Number onto it, in a unique 1/2" size.
I have had collectors argue that the number they just discovered is their missing "USA" number, when all it was was a part number for a slat on their troopracks. I have NOS Stamped Hardwood Running Board Spacers with the part number in 1/2" type.

cab wood
When I torn down my closed cab, I removed the wood and detemined that it was red oak. When I had new wood made, I had an extra set made which was given to Bob Muller at VOV in case anyone needed it for a pattern.
