New one to me

Post by UK Jack »

Now this may not mean a lot to you guys but last week I replaced my silencer. The one that has been on there since I first bought it has rusted right out.

Recently it has been on a life support machine, then it went critical and last week it went terminal. I have replaced the exhaust and boy oh boy what a beautiful sound that machine now makes.......someone could of told me what I have been missing out on for the last year!

The noise bouncing off the buildings traveling Weymouth high street was something else as we were in a 90 vehicle convoy but I couldn't compete on noise with the Sherman tank

Best wishes.

Jack.

Hi Jack,It's funny but my GMC sounds different to a friend of mine's .:? :? My truck sounds lovely with a nice growl, his sounds a bit smoother with no growl. Both seem to have the same down pipes and silencers, must be the manifolds are slightly aligned different. :? :?

My truck has the sound of a deep baritone and it is beautiful. What I love is the sound of the gears and engine together as we travel down the road. It is a sound I remember as as child growing up in North Louisiana. We lived on a major North South U.S. Highway and during WWII the convoys would be miles long. I would hear the sounds coming and run out to the highway and stand and slaute the soldiers as the jeeps, CCKW's and Dodges came by. It was fasinating to a youngster. I remember running into the old house and telling my mother I was going to be an Army truck driver when I grew up. :D

................must be the manifolds are slightly aligned different or the mixture set differently or the float level adjustment or the ignition timing setting or the valve timings or the head type, or distributor advance curve or the big valves or the air filter oil level or the compression ratio or the make of silencer, or the bore wear ....or.... or ....or... it ALL makes a difference !
