I buy mine at the autoparts store.
I believe Jim Carter has them for the Chev starters which I believe take the same brushes.
Can't help with the generator, I have alternators...

I changed over to 12 volt also and have an alternator on mine also. Just a preference of mine. When I restored MB's and GPW's I changed them to 12 volts also. Just makes life easier, as far as I am concerned.
