Bone yard bonanza
A couple of weeks ago I has to go to this tiny town north of me in southern Utah, this is a town that time forgot, just my style,so I dropped the family off for thier thing and I went scrounging, the guy I bought my halftrack and 4 CCKWs from has been telling me for two years now that there were parts up at the ranch and they were included with the purchase of the halftrack and GMCs but he won't let me go in on my owns and I can get him to go with me,so I checked out what was there then went back to get the family, across the street I saw OD plate in this old guys back yard,it turned out to be a rear door for a M-3 halfttrack, they had welded extra side plates to build a chain box for a snow plow, the side plates were parts of halftrack doors,I could kill these guys when they do this, after working out a purchase of the door he told be to check out a cattle ranch on the way out of town, thay have a bone yard that is at lease 300 yards long 20-40 feet wide and 20 feet high in places,I found two halftrack cowls and alot of good pieces, the guys who owned the lot had no idea what was in the pile so they me dig through it and even used thier backhoe to load it all, then he told me I should check out the other pile, they had used alot of CCKWs at some point in history, and for some reason the used a bulldozer to pust them into a pile,so no sheet metal was salvagable, but all the data plates were still there and one sey of very nice metal door handles, and three wiper motor covers,a couple of fire extinguishers and two oil can holders, all this from two trucks I wouldn't have looked twice at,he then told me he rembered some other stuff up in the mountains, but it had been a while since he had been there so he couldb't rember exactly what it was,so I gave him my card and he said he'd try to take his wife for a ride this weekend to check it out,I love finding these kind of guys, they know they will never use it and give it to me if I want it,I even found a complet firwall with all the static strapps attached. I didn't have time to inventory any thing but will post the stuff here before it goes to ebay. I also told him to let me know if they were going to clean up the bone yard,I'll help so I can find the parts I know are still buried in there. another great day of scrounging,I could get used to this. It sounds like you had a lot of fun out there, that is what this hobby is all about. Great job in saving so many parts!
Did you happen to take any pictures of the piles of trucks? I would love to see that.

High Nick, I did remeber to take the camera this time but I'm having trouble with Photobucket and can't get any pictures to transfer to them,I think I'm going to have to try another. What other hosting sites have you guys used, with good results? And yes it was a great day,the town is about 6500 feet up in the evergreens and heavy cedars, just the ride up there is enjoyable.Bob.

The photo host I use and recommend for military vehicle and equipment is http://www.surfacezero.com/g503 . It is hosted by our very own Brian (Blackdog) and I have never had any trouble with it but have trouble with other hosts like photobucket and the others.

If you email the photos to me, I'll put them up for you. nbombini@gmail.com
I have had the same problem with my photos not uploading and I couldn't figure it out until I realized it was because of the format my photo editer was saving them in. It may also be a format that your camera is saving the pics in that is not compatible but that is very unlikely.
