Original CCKW Pictures

Post by 41CCKW »

My great uncle was Ssgt. Danny Galatro 840bomber squadron 483 Bombardment, 15th USAAF. He was a photo guy. I was looking through his old WWII photos the other day and look what I found.
Image The note on the back of the pic says "This is part of my Italian crew on malaria control" I had looked at this pic before but I had not notticed the CCKW in the backround.

This bottom pic was one I found while searching for B17 pics on the internet.

Thanks so much for posting. As my Dad was also stationed in the 15USAAF in Italy I love to see pictures from that Theater.

Cool second picture. No turrets, no guns, just that radar dome. Also no PSP (Marston mating) which most Italian Airfields were built on. I wonder if that was stateside or in Theater?

I thought Fuel tankers were supposed to be yellow?

It's a shame the tail number isn't visable on the B17G,can anyone make out the insignia on the tail?

Hi Weasel_nut. I have a whole photo album of Danny's war time photos. Most of them were taken in Italy. Danny was born in Italy in 1912 and came to the USA with the rest of the family in 1921. He was drafted in may of 42.

Here is another CCKW pic. I found this one on the internet but I could not save it to my computer. I had to print it out and then scan it so the quality is not that good.
